It’s Payback Time

Getting your ass kicked by little kids hurts in every way imaginable. But if those kids happen to be fast enough to compete at a world level, well, maybe that smarts a little less. In fact, some of you have been around long enough to say you BEAT those kids, and that carries some pretty great bragging rights. You might just want to leave out the part that they were nine at the time.

At the end of January, three of those kids (who aren’t so little anymore) – Danick Vandale, Oliver Evans, and Willem Boersma – will represent Canada at the Cyclocross World Championships in Tabor, Czech Republic. But being fast doesn’t come cheap. To raise money to get themselves to Tabor, the boys are having a Bud, Spud and Steak fundraiser on Saturday, January 10 at the Tijuana Yacht Club from 6-9 pm. Tickets are only $20 – way less than you would spend on, well, lots of things. We should all go to show support, eat, drink beer, and make fun of how silly we look in normal clothes.

Bud, Spud and Steak might sound like a fairly restricted menu, but I’m sure there will be something for everyone. If you happen to be a vegetarian, for example, you could do a Bud, Spud and Spud.vegetarian

If you’re a vegetarian who really likes to party, you could do Bud, Bud and Spud.party vegetarian

If you’re DD for the night, you’ll probably want the Spud, Spud and Steak.DD

If you’re on the paleo diet, you’re probably going to stick with Steak, Steak, and Steak.paleo

And I guess the kids will have to suffice with the Spud, Steak and Juice Box option.

If you’re a non-drinking vegetarian on the paleo diet, just send in a cheque, stay home and do yoga or something.

Let’s send these three Prairie Boys off in style. After all, wouldn’t it feel great to say you got your ass kicked by the future World Cyclocross Champion? Plus, in addition to being pretty fast, they are also very nice guys and deserve our enthusiastic beer-drinking, spud-eating support. Consider it payback for every time you told them to get a job, or made a crack about juice boxes.
