Rain Bike
Here is a picture of me and everyone else who was crazy enough to ride this morning.
I sold the Giant rather than relegating it to the inglorious rank of rain bike. It is now property of a swell gal from Glenboro, Manitoba, who is just getting into triathlon and needed a decent bike to get started. Turns out we have more in common than just being tall. I’m tickled (pink?) to see the Giant go to a good home, and hope it brings her as much joy as it brought me.
So unfortunately I had to take my shiny new baby out in the shitty weather today. It is now my rain, wind, and sun bike. Good thing it is as tough as it is sexy. Dirty too. Now we both need a bath.
Welcome to the “I have really nice bike and it’s dirty so I need to clean right now ! Club” We meet at the addictions centre regularly by the way.
Time for a single speed – fixed. No, on second thought, that`s for tomorrow in the snow.
Today was a `cross bike day.
Crit this week – water in the bike will slow you down. Take out the seat tube and turn the bike upside down. Take off the tires. Use a magnifying glass on the chain and drive train – well maybe that`s too much.
Cool. I have a few other addictions that could be addressed at the same time! I love multitasking.
Yeah, as soon as I was warm enough, I put on the rubber boots and rain slicker, filled the bucket and brought baby outside in the rain for a nice soapy brush wash, followed by a clean mist from the hose. Next the towel massage in the basement and a dab of white nail polish for the teensy stone chip that was there when I got it.
You think I have a problem?
But Jason…there’s no power meter on my cross bike!! Maybe I will use it in the snow tomorrow though… good idea.
And I have a terrible confession. I’ll race a crit, and I’ll even ride for two hours alone in a monsoon, but I am WAY too chicken to remove my own seat post. Tires I can do.
Initiation is definitely hard. But it gets easier!
Hards as nails. Kudos.
I just bought a new pair of merrel’s yesterday. I took only them to the country today- and realized very quickly that If I wanted to go hiking with my kids I’d have to suck it up. MMMMMmmm, snow and muck. Painful!
Oh God, I hear you! Getting new shoes dirty IS painful alright. Sounds like they need a bath too.
